Thirteen Lincoln Park businesses along North Clark Street were broken into early Tuesday, Oct. 27, after a group of men arrived in a white vehicle around 3:56 a.m. in the 2400 and 2500 blocks of North Clark Street, according to the Chicago Police Department.
The group got out of the vehicle, broke glass doors and windows at multiple storefronts, then got back in and drove east, police said. Cash registers were removed from several of the businesses. Police said a complete list of what was taken is not available.
The affected businesses are Sultan's Market, Kala Modern Greek, CM Chicken, Doner 97, The Other Side Bar, Little Bit Cleaner, Top Cleaners, UPS, Great Clips, Moonbowls, Molly's Cupcakes, Aloha Eats and Epic Snack Shack.
Ald. Timmy Knudsen, who represents the 43rd Ward, said his office is working with Chicago police and local business groups. "Last night, multiple businesses on Clark Street between Fullerton Parkway and Deming Place were broken into and burglarized," Knudsen said. He said CPD has put the corridor under special attention and is running active burglary missions with dedicated officers monitoring the area. Knudsen called them "senseless crimes" and said he is pushing for sustained patrol on Clark Street along with additional public safety cameras.
