NASCAR estimates that 1,500 attendees participated in the third annual Block Party and Car Show held last year. This figure serves as a baseline for the fourth annual iteration, which is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 30, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at City Walk in Birmingham, Alabama.

The event includes approximately 150 vehicles on display. The lineup consists of cars owned by celebrities and influencers, as well as entries from out of state. Attendees can access racing simulators and interact with show cars. The site also hosts food trucks and local vendors, including Alicia’s Coffee, alongside a designated area for children.

Brandon Thompson, NASCAR’s Vice President of Growth, Engagement, and Inclusion, stated that the gathering supports the organization’s engagement with local communities and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). “We had about 1,500 people come out last year, a ton of food trucks, so it was a great opportunity,” Thompson said. “It’s really just a great time to bring out the kids, celebrate the classic weekend, and come out and see what NASCAR’s all about.”

The block party follows a race weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. Thompson said the event helps build relationships in the Birmingham market and supports the HBCUs participating in the Magic City Classic: Alabama A&M University and Alabama State University. “We know how much Birmingham means to Talladega as well,” Thompson said. “It’s a great time for us to come back with one of the city’s largest events, to be able to come and support both HBCUs here and support a lot of the things that we have going on just from an HBCU initiative across the board.”

Admission to the event is free and open to the public. The gathering is part of Magic City Classic weekend. The event includes show cars, simulators, food trucks, and family activities.
