Residents can now purchase a new thick crust pizza from Home Run Inn at local supermarkets. The product launches in the freezer sections of grocery stores across the Chicago area, adding a new option for shoppers who buy frozen meals.
The new item features a thick crust and comes in five different varieties. Each pizza measures nine inches in diameter. Home Run Inn CEO Dan Costello stated that the product is made from scratch with all-natural ingredients, mirroring the process used for the company's original tavern-style pizza.
Shoppers can find the new pan pizza at all Chicago-area Jewel stores and Tony's Fresh Market locations. This expansion extends the brand's presence beyond its traditional thin crust offerings, which have defined the company's identity for over a century.
Home Run Inn has operated in Chicago for more than 100 years. The chain is known for its square-cut slices of thin crust tavern-style pizza. The company has also sold a variety of frozen pizzas for years, and this new release marks the first addition of a pan crust style to that lineup.
To promote the launch, the chain is running a promotion at its restaurant locations. Customers who order an extra-large cheese or sausage pizza at any Chicago-area Home Run Inn will receive a free frozen pan pizza. The promotion runs concurrently with the retail rollout at grocery stores.
