Light rain showers that began early on Saturday morning will persist into the afternoon, creating wet conditions for residents celebrating Halloween in the Chicago area. Meteorologist Pete Sack of the NBC 5 Storm Team described the day's weather as a potential soggy Halloween due to the combination of steady rain and intermittent drizzle.
Sack stated that pockets of drizzle are expected from noon through the afternoon. He noted that while some areas may experience a break in the weather, shower activity is likely to remain overhead around 3 p.m., a time when many families begin their trick-or-treating activities. Residents are advised to carry umbrellas to prepare for the intermittent precipitation.
Temperatures will reach a high of approximately 62 degrees Fahrenheit during the afternoon. Southeast winds will blow at speeds between 5 and 10 mph. The forecast indicates that late evening hours will bring no major showers, though scattered drizzle remains possible. Overnight temperatures are expected to fall to around 52 degrees, with widely scattered chances for showers.
Daylight saving time ends overnight, requiring residents to set their clocks back one hour. Looking ahead to Sunday, stray showers are possible, but temperatures will rise slightly to a high of 66 degrees. Clouds will briefly clear on Sunday before returning for the start of the work week. Monday is forecast to bring a high of 67 degrees with stray showers moving across the area in the afternoon. The remainder of the week will feature rain and highs in the mid-60s to 70s.
The weather pattern continues with consistent moisture through the upcoming days. Forecasters anticipate persistent cloud cover and periodic rain events for the rest of the week.
