Steelers hold Saints 16-10 in Paris, keep AFC North lead
Pittsburgh quarterback Aaron Rodgers says the team is not yet playing well enough for the playoffs despite winning in France.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the New Orleans Saints 16-10 on Sunday at the Stade de France in Paris, France. The victory keeps the Steelers tied for first place in the AFC North as the season approaches its midpoint.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers said the team is still a work in progress. He noted that while the roster is competitive, the execution is not yet at the level required for a playoff run. "We are a 5-2 team, but we are not playing as well as we can at this moment," the four-time MVP said.
The offense struggled to convert drives into touchdowns, relying heavily on field goals. The team also accumulated too many penalties and lacked explosive plays. Rodgers, who is 42 years old, returned to the league with the goal of winning another Super Bowl before ending his Hall of Fame career. He believes the Steelers must start looking like a postseason threat on the field, not just on paper.
"It was a brave effort," Rodgers added. "But we have to come back, recover, and play better."
Running back Rico Dowdle had his best game of the season, totaling 86 yards of offensive production. Head coach Mike McCarthy said that having both Dowdle and starting running back Jaylen Warren available on the same day is a positive development for the offense. "I think whenever we can just line up and give Jaylen and Rico a whole day, it is a good day for us," McCarthy said.
Rodgers also contributed on the ground. With two months left before he turns 43, the quarterback scrambled for a first down on third and eight in the final minute of the game. He explained that he looked to the side as he left the pocket and decided he could not slide for a sack. "Sometimes you have to stay in and make a play for your teammates," he said.
Defensive lineman Payton Wilson intercepted a pass from Tyler Shough in deep Pittsburgh territory in the third quarter. The pick ended a Saints scoring threat. The Steelers also forced three fumbles from New Orleans, though the Saints recovered all three.
The Steelers will host the Cleveland Browns next. Their five wins so far have all come in games that were within one possession at the start of the fourth quarter. The opponents defeated include quarterbacks such as Shough, Cooper Rush, Jalon Daniels, and Daniel Jones. The team also recorded a win over Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals earlier in the season.
Burrow and the Bengals appear to be finding their form ahead of a rematch in a few weeks. The Steelers have shown enough to win games, but their next full performance will be the first real test of their consistency. There is room for optimism, but the team is still far from being a finished product.
