Cook County holiday market unveils $95 VIP preview tickets for 30th anniversary
Organizers in Chicago and the suburbs introduced paid early-access events to reduce lines as the Christkindlmarket celebrates three decades.

The cost for a single spot at the Christkindlmarket opening night preview is $95, plus fees. Organizers announced this week that the price buys visitors exclusive access to the holiday tradition before the general public arrives. The event is part of a new lineup of ticketed options designed for the market's 30th anniversary.
The preview event, titled 'T'was the Night Before Christkindlmarket,' is scheduled for Nov. 19. Attendees will experience the venue before its official public opening. The program includes festive entertainment and the traditional opening ceremony with the Christkind. Visitors will also meet Santa and Mrs. Claus. A primary draw for ticket holders is the opportunity to be among the first to receive the 2026 souvenir mugs.
The 2026 mug features a new flute-inspired silhouette in pearl white. Organizers stated that the design serves as a traditional symbol marking the anniversary celebration. The mugs change shape and design each year the market operates.
For those who do not want to pay for the opening night, the market is returning a program called Culture and Cheer Tours. These tours provide exclusive early access to the market before standard opening hours. A German-speaking guide leads guests through the market's history and traditions. Participants enjoy vendor samples and receive special souvenirs. The tours cost $48 per person and will run on select mornings during the holiday season. Additional tour dates are set for Dec. 21 through Dec. 23.
Organizers also introduced a new ticketed event called the Merry Market Experience. This option offers guests a self-guided scavenger hunt through the market. Ticket holders receive priority market entry, a mug, and a beverage. The price for this experience is $35 per person. Other scheduled events include Krampus-themed days and children's parades.
The Christkindlmarket at Daley Plaza and the Christkindlmarket Aurora at RiverEdge Park will open on Nov. 20. Both locations will operate through Dec. 24. The Christkindlmarket Wrigleyville at Gallagher Way has a longer schedule. It will run from Nov. 20 through Dec. 31.
