Lucy Hale and Ian Harding star in new Christmas film

Lucy Hale and Ian Harding will reunite on screen tomorrow in The 12 Dates of Christmas. The two actors previously starred as Aria Montgomery and Ezra Fitz on the series Pretty Little Liars. That show concluded nearly ten years ago.

The new film follows a character named Christina, played by Hale. She decides to go on twelve dates during the twelve weeks before Christmas. Her goal is to find a romantic partner. The movie is available to stream on Hulu beginning November 6.

Filming for the project took place last year around the holiday season. Hale and Harding discussed the production at a premiere event held on the red carpet. They described the process of working together again after the long gap.

Hale said the pair picked up where they left off. She noted that Harding remained friendly and kind. She mentioned that he sang in the hair and makeup trailer, just as he did during their earlier collaboration.

Harding explained that the chemistry returned quickly. He said he sometimes struggled to tell the difference between script lines and casual conversation. He described the film as natural because the two actors often improvised their dialogue.

Hale stated this is the first Christmas movie she has made. She said the film contains all the expected elements of a holiday romance. Harding called the movie playful and charming. He noted that the romantic scenes are balanced and not excessive. He added that the characters genuinely like one another.

David Lipper directed the film. The cast also includes Carter Jenkins, Kahyun Kim, and Greer Grammer. The Walt Disney Company owns Hulu and the local ABC station.
