Owners of Tesla Cybertrucks can expect the end of their specific model line by mid-2027. Elon Musk stated on social media that the company will stop building the stainless-steel electric pickup at the Gigafactory Texas around the middle of next year. The primary goal of this shift is to clear production capacity for the upcoming Cybercab vehicle.

The Austin facility is the sole manufacturing site for the Cybertruck. This decision follows a period of declining demand for the vehicle. Kelley Blue Book data shows that Cybertruck sales fell 48 percent between 2024 and 2025. For the first nine months of 2026, sales dropped by 28 percent compared to the previous year.

The vehicle faced challenges from early on. It suffered from quality-control issues that led to several recalls shortly after its debut. The truck also became a focal point in political discourse, particularly as Musk aligned with President Donald Trump and right-leaning groups. In Europe, Tesla vehicle sales tumbled 49 percent in the first two months of 2025, even as the overall electric vehicle market grew. This dip coincided with Musk's public endorsement of Germany’s far-right Alternative for Germany party.

Musk’s announcement came through a direct post to his social media channels. He noted that the production wind-down is necessary to make room for increased output of the Cybercab. The move signals a strategic pivot away from the polarizing pickup truck toward a new autonomous vehicle design.

The production timeline places the final Cybertruck models in the second half of 2027. No specific date was provided for the final unit rolling off the line. The company did not release a separate financial statement detailing the revenue impact of the discontinuation.
