Peter T. Thomas, 35, the owner of Pilot Pete’s Coffee and Treats in Elmhurst, has been charged with selling methamphetamine to an undercover officer. Thomas lives in the 500 block of East Park Boulevard in Villa Park. The DuPage County state’s attorney’s office filed three felony counts for delivery of methamphetamine and one felony count for possession with intent to deliver.
Chicago police alerted Elmhurst police to suspicions that Thomas was selling drugs. On September 1, 2026, an undercover officer met Thomas at his coffee shop inside the Metra station. The officer purchased about 4.26 grams of methamphetamine. Prosecutors noted that the drugs were packed in a brown envelope marked “Pilot Pete’s Coffee & Treats.”
The officer made two additional purchases from Thomas. On September 30, the officer bought 3.27 grams at the coffee shop. On Wednesday, the officer bought 7.33 grams at Thomas’ residence. Thomas was arrested outside his business on Wednesday. Authorities found 29.4 grams of methamphetamine in his pants pocket.
Thomas also faces misdemeanor charges for resisting a peace officer and unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver. Prosecutors asked the court to hold him pretrial, but Judge Joshua Dieden granted him release.
Thomas is scheduled to appear in court again on November 23.
