Residents in the western Cook County suburbs experienced a brief traffic disruption on the Eisenhower Expressway early Thursday morning after a police pursuit ended in a vehicle collision. The chase began with a break-in at a local business and concluded with multiple arrests near the border of Bellwood and Addison.

Addison police began monitoring several gaming locations at approximately 4:35 a.m. due to a recent spike in burglaries. Detectives observed a Dodge Durango missing license plates and a BMW enter the parking lot of Maria’s Gaming Cafe at 40 East Lake. The occupants of both vehicles forced their way into the cafe, which had been a target of prior thefts, and removed items before fleeing the scene.

Officers deployed spike strips to disable the BMW, causing its occupants to abandon the vehicle and switch into the Durango. That vehicle then sped onto the Eisenhower Expressway. A multi-agency pursuit followed until the Durango was stopped using mitigation devices near the intersection of Interstate 290 and 25th Avenue near Bellwood. A short foot chase ensued before several suspects were taken into custody.

Authorities confirmed that both vehicles involved were reported stolen. Police recovered several guns and the proceeds from the burglary at the scene. An Illinois State Police spokesperson stated that troopers assisted with the response to the crash. The investigation into the case was ongoing as of the morning of the incident.

The collision blocked three lanes on the eastbound side of Interstate 290 west of 25th Avenue. Traffic resumed normal flow at approximately 6:05 a.m. No injuries were reported in the initial details provided by officials, though the investigation continued to determine the specific roles of each suspect.
