The Chicago Bears defeated the Seattle Seahawks by 17 points on Sunday, marking the largest margin of victory for Chicago against Seattle since a 17-point loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 15 of 2024.

The win cements the Bears as contenders in the NFC. The offense is clicking, and the defense has received a boost from the addition of Jeffery Simmons. However, cornerbacks Jaylon Johnson and Tyrique Stevenson are currently struggling, creating a vulnerability that opponents are exploiting.

Johnson noted that the presence of Simmons allows the secondary to play with more aggression. "It’s a lot easier to cover for two than four seconds," Johnson said. "Naturally, as a defender, you can be a little more aggressive. You can take some more chances because you know he can’t go through his reads or take a lot of time to get the ball out. For us, it’s just being aggressive."

The Bears face a decision before the November 10 trade deadline. They must determine if their current corners can recover or if the team needs to make an additional acquisition to shore up the secondary.

Head coach Ben Johnson discussed a 43-yard touchdown pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba, explaining the breakdown. "It looked like a double move and just got us on the outside," Johnson said. "We tried something similar when we got the ball back and that's why Rome was able to get down the sideline and we weren't able to connect."

In the other division game, the Detroit Lions defeated the Minnesota Vikings 19-15. The Lions won their second consecutive division game, a result that came after linebacker Jack Campbell was carted off the field following a serious injury.

The Vikings' offense ranks 28th in the league in yards per play. Minnesota has not scored a touchdown in the first quarter of any game this season. This Sunday's loss was the fourth time in seven games that the Vikings failed to score at least 20 points.

Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell acknowledged the need for consistency as the season moves into November. "We’re in November now," O’Connell said. "And we’ve got to start working with the same urgency we’ve had. The preparation has been really good, but it’s just continuing to wait for that consistent four quarters of good football and see what that looks like."

The Green Bay Packers beat the Carolina Panthers 27-19, relying on a defensive performance that recorded six sacks. The Packers' defense pressured the Panthers' top-five offense consistently throughout the game.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur praised his defensive staff for their scheme. "I thought our guys did a great job up front," LaFleur said. "I think some of the looks that we’re giving them, the opposition, Carolina, are very difficult. We do a lot of different things off of it, so I think that’s a big-time credit to our defensive staff."

Star pass rusher Micah Parsons has begun practicing with the team, signaling a potential return to the fold soon. Lions quarterback Jared Goff commented on the team's reaction to Campbell's injury, noting the emotional toll on the squad. "It’s hard. It’s really hard," Goff said. "I think you’ve got to remember these guys are humans and deal with stuff, and we are humans as his teammates and deal with that emotion."
