The Chicago Bears defeated the Seattle Seahawks 34-17 on Monday Night Football at Lumen Field. The victory extends the Bears' record to 6-2. The win was secured by a strong defensive performance and three short touchdowns from running back D'Andre Swift.

Defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons made an immediate impact in his first game with the team. On Seattle's second possession, the new arrival overpowered guard Grey Zabel to sack quarterback Sam Darnold. Simmons wore number 99 with orange sleeves for the matchup. He also teamed up with linebacker Devin Bush for a tackle for loss later in the first half. The Bears defense recorded pressure on the quarterback throughout the game. Defensive end Montez Sweat and Bush also recorded sacks. A deflected pass from Darnold was intercepted by defensive tackle James Lynch.

D'Andre Swift scored three touchdowns to provide the offensive scoring. His eighth rushing touchdown of the season came from one yard out. That score put the Bears up 20-9 with 5:38 remaining in the third quarter. Swift added a ninth touchdown from five yards out. That run extended the lead to 27-17 with 8:28 left in the fourth quarter. Swift finished the game with 69 yards on 27 carries. His longest rush was seven yards. Running back Roschon Johnson rushed five times for 17 yards. The Bears struggled to gain significant ground on the ground against a top-tier Seattle run defense.

Quarterback Caleb Williams completed 24 of 34 passes for 247 yards. He threw one touchdown pass and no interceptions. Williams was 17 of 25 for 165 yards in the first half. His opening drive was 80 yards long and lasted 17 plays. The drive ended with a one-yard pass to wide receiver Luther Burden III. Williams completed 8 of 10 passes for 58 yards on that specific sequence. Burden caught four passes for 23 yards on the drive. The Bears forced a three-and-out on Seattle's opening series before executing the scoring drive.

The Bears faced challenges with penalties and specific matchups. The team was flagged 10 times for 85 yards of penalties. This followed a game against New England where they drew nine penalties for 69 yards. A holding penalty by cornerback Clark Phillips negated a fourth-quarter interception by safety Cam Lewis. Defensive tackle Grady Jarrett was flagged for grabbing an offensive lineman's face mask during Simmons' first sack. Wide receiver Jaylon Johnson struggled against Seattle's Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Johnson whiffed on a screen pass, allowing a 20-yard gain. He was also flagged for pass interference late in the first half. The Seahawks scored to narrow the gap to 13-9 shortly after that play.

Seattle cut their deficit to 20-17 in the fourth quarter. The Bears were facing third and nine from the Seahawks 44-yard line after a delay of game penalty. Coach Ben Johnson called a lateral disguised as a screen pass to wide receiver Kalif Raymond. Raymond ran 39 yards to reach the five-yard line. On the next play, Swift scored to seal the momentum shift. Earlier in the fourth quarter, linebacker DeMarcus Lawrence punched the ball out of the hands of tight end Colston Loveland. Lawrence recovered the fumble at the Bears 25-yard line. The Seahawks responded with a touchdown and a two-point conversion to pull within three points.

The Bears return home on Sunday to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tampa Bay holds a 3-5 record. The kickoff is scheduled for 7:20 p.m. at Soldier Field.

The game marked the first time the Bears played in Seattle under new defensive coordinator Dennis Allen. The defense applied pressure consistently from the first snap. Cornerback Kyler Gordon blitzed Darnold on the second play of the game. The Bears' defensive line, anchored by the new additions, controlled the line of scrimmage for the majority of the contest.
