CHICAGO. Three former managers of the Chicago Cubs made the Contemporary Baseball Hall of Fame ballot on Monday. The announcement coincided with the 10th anniversary of the team's 2016 World Series championship.

The 16-member panel will vote on eight finalists. The committee includes Hall of Fame players, MLB executives, media members, and historians. Candidates must receive at least 75% of the vote to be enshrined in Cooperstown. The committee will announce next year's class on December 6.

Joe Maddon is one of the finalists. He led the Cubs to their first title in 108 seasons. Maddon started his managerial career with the Tampa Bay Rays, guiding them to their first World Series appearance in 2008. He joined the Cubs before the 2015 season. He earned 471 victories in five seasons with the club and led the team to three straight National League Championship Series appearances.

Dusty Baker is also on the ballot. He ranks eighth in Major League Baseball history for career wins. Baker spent the bulk of his career with the San Francisco Giants, where he recorded 840 victories. He led the Giants to a 2002 World Series appearance. He joined the Cubs the following year and won 322 games with the team. He helped the Cubs defeat the Atlanta Braves in the 2003 National League Division Series, their first playoff series win in 95 years. Baker won his first World Series title with the Houston Astros in 2022.

Lou Piniella rounds out the group of former Cubs managers on the list. He won the 1990 World Series with the Cincinnati Reds. He later led the Seattle Mariners to 116 wins in the 2001 season. He joined the Cubs before the 2007 season. He became the first Cubs manager since Frank Chance to lead the team to back-to-back playoff appearances. The team won division titles in 2007 and 2008 under his leadership. He left the team late in the 2010 season after winning 316 games.

The other finalists include Bruce Bochy, Brian Sabean, Sandy Alderson, Ted Turner, and Bill White. Bochy has four career World Series rings and 2,252 career managerial wins, which ranks sixth all-time. Sabean was the architect of the Giants' three World Series-winning teams while Bochy was manager. Alderson was a general manager for the Athletics. Turner was an owner of the Atlanta Braves. White served as National League President and was a former Major League player and New York Yankees broadcaster.
